Sporting Achievment and Annual Review 2015/16

This year has been a very busy one for our many talented and sparkly sports stars.

Whether representing the school in athletics, basketball, cricket, gymnastics or as Sports Ambassadors Glade Hill's children have excelled. Many of our children take part in a wide range of sports outside of school including swimming, ice skating, football, basketball. rugby and ice hockey.

The Basketball team took part in the annual City tournament-placing 5th out of 25 teams. Two mini Leagues-again placing fifth and winning the other and played 3 friendly matches winning all three. In total competing in 31 matches, drawing 3,losing 7 and winning a massive 21! A fantastic achievement by all those that played.

The cricket team placed a very credible joint 4th out of 12 teams in the Nottingham City Year 5 Kwik Cricket Tournament, with some fantastic bowling, batting and fielding on display.

Our Sports Ambassadors have been instrumental in the smooth running of games and activities for our KS1 children at play and lunch times. They also got to meet a Olympian on their training day in the shape of the GB Mens Volleyball captain Ben Pipes! We all appreciate your help, commitment and enthusiasm this past year.

Our Year 5/6 athletics team reached the semi finals of the City Sports Hall Athletics Competition and our Year 3/4 team went one better, reaching the final placing fourth, just missing out on a medal.

The Year 3/4 team also won the Oakwood family of schools event in March and last Friday Year's 4 & 5 took part in the Oakwood Olympics winning many races and gaining first place in the majority of the potted sports events.

Last and by no means least our Year 4/5 Gymnastics team took the gold medel for the second year running in the Year 5/6 Key Steps City Gymnastics Competition and represented the school at the Nottingham City Primary Sports Awards evening where they met two members of the Great Britain Swimming team.

A huge thank you to all parents and carers who have supported the various teams at events and helped provide transport and to the staff members who gave up their time to help run clubs and attend events.

Have a great summer!

Mr Purcell.
