World Book Day!
Thank you to all grown ups who helped their child dress up as a book character this world book day! They looked amazing and we certainly had a great day celebrating books!
In the morning the children paired up with a different class and read to an older child / heard a younger child read. They even signed each other's reading diaries! The children loved this and we hope to repeat this again in the future from requests from the children!
In the afternoon we held a reading cafe for parents to attend to hear their child read and enjoy a cup of tea or two! This was extremely popular this year and we are so pleased with the positive feedback we have had from parents and children about how they enjoyed sharing a book with their families!
Here are some of the photos taken throughout the day...
Old School Uniform
We changed our school logo nearly 2 years ago and had a large stock of old school uniform that was surplus to requirements. After some time we managed to find a charity that was able to use this school uniform in Africa. Please see below the photos from Aid2Gambia of the children wearing the Glade Hill School Uniform. Aid2Gambia is based in Nottingham and their primary objective is to collect redundant educational and medical equipment that is shipped to The Gambia and redistributed to schools in need. We are so pleased that the school has been able to help in this way.
University of Nottingham Family Discovery Day
On Saturday 7 May 2016, a group of families travelled to the University of Nottingham for a Family Discovery Day. This day had been organised to introduce families to the University and involved a number of fun hands-on activities including trying out Viking weapons, creating an invisible fire extinguisher, to seeing a 3D printer in action and finding out how to solve the Rubik’s Cube! Ms Sheppard went with them and captured all the fun that was had in the photos below.
'Friday Afternoons' singing project
On Friday 4th March the choir took part in a singing project at Djanogly Academy theatre. They not only sang beautifully, but they also performed a dance as a creative response to the music. As always, the choir were excellent representatives of Glade Hill and they SPARKLED at all times!
Soon, I will upload a video of the event. Stay tuned!
On Wednesday 16th December, the children and staff had a great day making all kinds of festive things like cards, gift bags, tree decorations and Christmas biscuits for Christmas Craft Day! Thank you to everyone that came and took part during the afternoon and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
