We are Golden and we SPARKLE
For the first few weeks, we will be settling into routines and getting to know each other. Experience shows us that this settling in period is vital so that our children feel safe and secure as we move forward in our learning. We will be learning and talking about what it is to be GOLDEN and SPARKLE. This term in Nursery, we will be learning all about Nursery Rhymes and in particular Incy Wincey Spider, Humpty Dumpty and Hickory Dickory Dock alongside many others. A great knowledge of nursery rhymes supports early phonics such as rhyme, rhythm and alliteration. Furthermore, it enhances turn taking, listening and attention skills and, early maths understanding. We will be re-telling, sequencing and re-enacting our nursery rhymes in our indoor and outdoor. We will also be focussing on helping your children to become independent learners. We will be encouraging them to use the toilet, get dressed, fasten their own coat and put on their shoes. These independent skills are a fundamental part of the Early Year’s curriculum as well as promoting independent learning. Please speak to a member of staff if you require any support.
Please send videos or photos of your child performing the nursery rhymes learned this term. Please take a look at our Nursery rhyme section on the class page for videos of each rhyme: Foundation for Phonics: Nursery Rhymes
