Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School

We are Golden and we SPARKLE

Christmas message from Ms Sheppard

2 December 2020

Dear Parents and carers

We are approaching the end of term and I wanted to write to you to thank you for your continued support with our systems which ensure children, staff and parents feel safe in our school.

From today Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County will once again be in Tier 3. In school we continue to ensure all children wash their hands regularly and our classes are separate at all times.  Please can you remind your children about hands, face and space. We are also pleased by the response of all parents to the drop off and pick up of their children. Please remember to respect the 2m distance markings that we have put on the playground. For our Y5/Y6 parents, please remind your children to walk home sensibly and the need to socially distance when arriving or leaving school.

We are trying hard to celebrate Christmas at Glade Hill as we always have even though some things have to be different this year. We have put Christmas trees up in both halls and children have decorated them.  Our Christmas dinner is on Friday 11th December, we are all busy rehearsing Christmas songs to share with you through videos, we are preparing for Christmas craft day and we have also booked to visit Cinderella in her very own online interactive pantomime. Please see the website calendar for further details of all these events.

If your child would like to send Christmas cards to their friends, they can either choose to send 1 card to the whole class or individual cards which will be put into a box for and quarantined before being given out before the end of term. Alternatively, if you would like to donate an item for the local foodbank please feel free to drop this into the school office or to the Bestwood Park church. Any donations will be gratefully received.

As a school we are here to help our families should you need us before the end of term, Chris Easton from Bestwood Park Church is also here to support our community over the Christmas period.

The Nottinghamshire Mental Health Helpline offers access to support for people who need emotional support or information about their mental health. The helpline number is 0300 555 0730 and is open from 9am until 11pm, 7 days a week. For more information and mental health resources visit

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our families a very happy, safe and enjoyable Christmas from myself and all the staff at Glade Hill Primary School.

We look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

Best wishes

Ms Sheppard
