This month has been a very busy one for our school sports teams.
On Monday our Year 6 basketball team competed in the Nottingham City Mini Basketball heats at NTU Clifton. Playing six matches. Winning three and losing three. Finishing third in their group.
The team just missed out on a place in the finals. The girls were playing for the first time in competition and applied themselves very well. The experienced boys won all their halves and drew the other.
On Thursday, myself and our new Sports Ambassadors attended a training morning at Harvey Hadden Sports Centre. The children had a fun morning meeting ambassadors from other schools across the city and took part in the "Personal best challenge" Something they will be delivering at break and lunchtimes after Christmas to our Year 3 and 4 pupils after Christmas.
Yesterday evening our Year 4/5 football team played their second match of the season away to Southwark Primary. A very, very hard fought and close game ended in a 2-1 defeat. Kade Hursthouse from Marvellous Maples scored a brilliant goal, robbing the Southwark defender and then smashing the ball home, pass the advancing Southwark keeper. The boys were very unlucky to not claim a draw, when in the last minute Kamarni Burgin also from Marvelous Maples threaded a beautiful through ball to Kade Hursthouse who couldn't quite connect pass the onrushing Southwark keeper.
Man of the match award goes to Alfie Guise for yet another awesome defensive display.
Our Year 5/6 Athletics team have been training hard, ahead of next week's semi final at Harvey Hadden. Hopefully the team can claim a spot in this year's grand final to be held on December 12th, again at Harvey Hadden.
As always, a massive thanks to all the parents and family members who come along and support and help with transport.
