We are Mathematicians!
In Maths this half term we have learning about the symbols plus, minus and equals. We have been practicing how to write numbers from 1 to 10 in words and we have using this in our maths journalling.
We are Writers!
In English this half term we have had a sneaky visitor to the classroom! They have been leaving sneaky clues for us each week, including smelly socks, slime and even putting our teddies on the ceiling! We have reading Morris the Mankiest Monster and Zog and creating our own monster stories using all the 'disgusting' and 'gross' vocabulary we have learnt.
We are Readers!
We have been continuing to learn phonics using our new scheme 'Little Wandle' and Miss Newman and Miss King are so impressed with how quickly we have been racing up the reading rainbow. We are enjoying reading for pleasure in our new class library and our weekly visits to the school library. We all choose a book and Miss Newman reads the blurb before we vote on which one we want to read! It is lots of fun.
We are Scientists!
In Science we have been learning all about animals. We have noticed that all animals are different but some of them have things in common as well. We couldn't believe it when we learned humans were animals too! We have enjoyed creating our own animals using different body parts and learning all about elephants from interviewing a real zoo keeper!
We are Cheerleaders!
In PE we have been learning how to cheerlead with Ms Hunt. We have learning the fundamental movement skills of gymnastics with Mr Strachan!
We are Geographers!
In Geography we have been learning about the United Kingdom. We have been learning about the countries that make up the UK and what their capital cities are called.
We are Designers!
In D&T we have been making a moving monster story book. We have experimented using levers and sliders to create our final design.
