Summer 2- All about me

This term in Nursery we will be learning “All About Me; our bodies, our senses and our cultures. We will be focussing on 3 key texts: Monkey Puzzle, Funnybones and Hey You!

In Literacy the children will learn new songs and nursery rhymes related to our theme and, focus on joining in with repeated refrains or rhymes from our key texts. They will also be representing key characters from the texts through painting and collage.

In Phonics we will be consolidating the Phase 1 aspects, pencil control and forming the letters in our names correctly.

In Maths there will be a focus on number, counting 1:1 skills, repeating patterns and length.

The children will become keen scientists this term by looking at our lifecycles from when we were babies to now. Please send in any photographs of your child from birth for them to share with their peers. We will also be having a big focus on oral hygiene, healthy eating and exercise to promote the children’s awareness and understanding of how to care for ourselves. The children will be experiencing a wide variety of fruits during our ‘healthy teddy bear’s picnic’.

In addition, we will enjoy an array of Carnival activities such as drumming, global dances, food tasting, making carnival accessories ending in our own carnival at school.
