Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,

I cannot believe that we are at the end of this academic year and that we have just said goodbye to our Super Year 6s. What an amazing year it has been for all our children and we are so proud of our Year 6s for their progress and achievements!

Our school improvement aims for this year were to improve writing, improve provision for children facing barriers to their success and support teachers to develop as leaders at Glade Hill, and I am pleased to report that we have achieved success in all of these areas. I look forward to sharing with you the priorities for 2026.27 in my first letter in the Autumn term.

We have also continued to work hard with staff on adapting our teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those in our enhanced provision support bases (Poppies, Buttercups and Bluebells) and mainstream classes, and help all children make the best progress possible. This is key with our context of one of the most inclusive schools in Nottingham City and with 34% of our children having SEND. Our new SEN Unit ‘The Nook’ is due to be opening in September and will have two classes, Lilies (specialist base) and Daisies (enhanced provision support base) to further expand and build on our important work is this area. I look forward to sharing photos of The Nook in due course.

As part of our commitment to your children’s wider development and access to opportunities, there has been lots happening for the children of Glade Hill, from The Go for Gold fun run at Oakwood to the Great Glade Hill Water Fight for our Year 6s. Camping trips for Year 3 and Year 6, as well as Sports Days and Forest School for children across the school. The list goes on and on. None of these could happen without the hard work of our amazing staff, and the support of all our parents, carers and families. Thank you to you all. We have also booked in lots of exciting opportunities for all our classes, ready for the Autumn term, with returning and new ‘Winter’ trips – I can’t wait to share them with you in September.

Attendance during this year had also improved, until the long heat wave, with less persistent absence and higher attendance levels overall, and we continue to work to ensure this is the best possible. Thank you for all your support in these areas. This makes all the difference.

Finally, to our Super Year 6s, you have been sensational this year and shown us that every single one of you is golden and SPARKLY. I have known many of you since you first started school, and I am so proud of the young people you have become. You have made brilliant progress, across the curriculum, and it was so lovely to share this at your Leaver’s Assemblies today.  I know that all the staff, your parents and families feel the same. I know you will have an amazing time in your new schools and please make sure you come back to say hello and share your successes with us.
