At Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School we believe every child is unique, capable and full of potential.
In Amazing Acorns, children learn through play, exploration and meaningful experiences. Together with families, we aim to nurture happy, confident learners who feel safe, valued and ready to thrive. We love to bring learning to life by creating stimulating play-based opportunities for children to actively explore and interact with the world around them and base learning around the child and their interests. The positive relationships formed in the first few years between schools and families are vital in ensuring children achieve their full potential, and no one knows your child better than you do. So we look forward to welcoming you in September and starting this wonderful school journey together.

For the first few weeks, we will be settling into routines and getting to know each other. Experience shows us that this settling-in period is vital so that our children feel safe and secure as we move forward in our learning. We will be learning and talking about what it is to be GOLDEN and SPARKLE.

This term in Nursery, we will be learning nursery rhymes such as Incy Wincy Spider, Humpty Dumpty and Hickory Dickory Dock alongside many others. A great knowledge of nursery rhymes supports early phonics such as rhyme, rhythm and alliteration. Furthermore, it enhances turn taking, listening and attention skills and early maths understanding. We will be re-telling, sequencing and re-enacting our nursery rhymes in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
Please have a look at our Foundation for Phonics: Nursery Rhymes section on this page for videos of each rhyme.
We will also be focusing on helping your children to develop their independent skills. Encouraging children to have a go for themselves and praising their efforts helps build confidence and resilience. We'd really appreciate your support in encouraging independence at home. Simple things like putting on coats, using the toilet independently, washing hands, tidying up, and carrying their own belongings can make a big difference to children's confidence.
Remember, every child develops at their own rate and we celebrate all progress, no matter how small. Please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff if you require any support.
