  • Spring 1: Food, Glorious food

    Food, Glorious food

Our new theme this term is Food, Glorious Food. We will be reading some fantastic stories such as Handa’s Surprise, The Enormous Turnip and The Tiger Who Came to Tea – and look forward to preparing and tasting lots of exciting fruits and vegetables, as well as baking cakes and preparing sandwiches for our ‘Tiger Who came to Tea’ party. We will be learning all about the traditions of Lunar Year and will be turning our role-play area into a Fruit and Vegetable shop. In Literacy we will be role-playing, re- telling and innovating stories. This term in maths, we will continue to develop our subitising and counting skills and, explore the composition of numbers within and beyond 5. Also, we will be starting Counting Collections where we will be further developing our counting, composition and recording skills.

In our daily phonic sessions, we will continue to develop our reading and writing skills by starting Phase 3, the children will learn sounds such as ee in week and oa in goat.
