WOODLAND WALKS

This half-term Nursery will be exploring the woods every Friday morning with Mr Strachan and the Forest Leaders. We will be making observations of nature and looking for signs of Spring, as well as making dens and swings and doing some cooking on the campfire. 

Don't Wake The Tiger

This week we have enjoyed sharing the book, Don't Wake the Tiger' . In the story the animals use a balloon to float over the sleeping tiger so they don't wake him up and spoil his birthday party surprise. We enjoyed re-telling the story using costumes and props, we made playdough tigers using pipe cleaners to make a stripy pattern and especially enjoyed investigating floating and sinking. We talked about what we could do if we are worried about something and different  ways we can help our friends at school if they have a problem.

Pip and Posy  - The Bedtime Frog.

This week we have been sharing the story Pip and Posy and the bedtime frog. We all had a go at packing our suitcase for a holiday, had fun with spaghetti and loved giving the babies a bubble bath.

Neon Leon

This week we have been reading the book, Neon Leon. We learned how chameleons change colour to match their environment and discovered what a jungle looks like. We made our own chameleons using collage materials and talked about what makes us happy.

Christmas Fun

The Nursery children have enjoyed all the Christmas celebrations and activities such as wrapping presents in Santa's workshop, making melted snowman biscuits and singing enthusiastically in our EYFS Christmas production. We wish all our children and families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Settling In

We have had an amazing start to the school year. We have learnt new rhymes, created beautiful collages, made 3D mice and delicious biscuits. We are also learning about Diwali and have created beautiful Rangoli patterns. As part of our black history month we learned all about Mary Seacole and Louise Garvey, who were amazing nurses.
