Welcome back, Year 3!
This half term in literacy we will be finishing our Myths and Legends topic, making sure we use all the
fantastic features of fiction writing that we’ve learned this year.
We will then be focussing on creating explanation texts so we can use our knowledge of non-fiction writing to produce amazing explanations about volcanoes. We will be focussing a lot on spelling this half term so make sure to practice all of those year 3 key words!
In maths this half term we will be learning about time and perimeter.
We will be looking at telling the time more precisely and working out durations of events.
We will also be recapping everything we have learned in year 3 including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, shape and measure.
Please keep practising your superhero maths and times table rockstars at home – it is amazing to have a fast recall of facts!
We are impressed with our recent reading percentage increase. Keep up the good work!
An important way to support your child’s learning at home is to read with them at least 3 times per week. If you child reads 3 times per week at home they will receive a star on their RED TED award!
Our topic this half term is Extreme Earth! We will be learning to describe and understand mountains, volcanoes, earthquakes and floods. We will also be locating world’s countries and identifying key physical/human features.
We are GOLDEN and we SPARKLE!
