Welcome back, Year 3!
This half term in literacy we will be focusing on myths and legends. We will be exploring some well known myths and legends and understanding the difference between the two! We will discover key features of fiction writing and we will be focusing on detailed descriptions of characters and settings while also including lots of dialogue in our writing to show off our skills of punctuating speech!
Our final writing piece will be the story of Robin Hood.
In maths this half term we will be learning about fractions. We will be finding equivalent fractions, adding fractions, subtracting fractions and finding a fraction of a number.
We will also be recapping some key objectives taught so far. This includes converting measurements, adding and subtracting, and multiplying and dividing.
Please keep practising your superhero maths at home – it is amazing to have a fast recall of facts!
An important way to support your child’s learning at home is to read with them at least 3 times per week. If you child reads 3 times per week at home they will receive a star on their RED TED award!
Our topic this half term is ‘Myths and Legends’. As Robin Hood is a local legend, we can take a deeper look into the history of this mysterious character and see how he impacted our city!
In science we will be looking at plants and discovering what they need to be able to grow.
We are GOLDEN and we SPARKLE!
