We are Golden and we SPARKLE

We are Scientists

Autumn 1

We are learning about living things and their habitats. We shall be exploring the differences between things that are living, dead and things that have never been alive.

We will identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of animals and plants.

Autumn 2

By the end of this half-term, we will be able to answer our big question of 'How do we choose the best material for an object?' We will use a variety of working scientifically skills to identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials for particular uses.

Spring 1

By the end of this half-term, we will be able to answer our Big Question, "What would you need to take to Mars to survive?"

We will use a variety of working scientifically skills to understand than animals, including humans, have offspring which grow into adults. We will explore the basic needs and the importance of exercise and diet to keep us healthy.

Spring 2

By the end of this half term, we will be able to answer our big question:

“can we change materials and how can we choose the best one?”

We will use a variety of working scientifically skills to understand more about the terms 'stretching, twisting, bending and squashing".

Summer 1

By the end of this half term, we will be able to answer our big question, "What should I do to grow a healthy plant?“.

We will use a variety of working scientifically skills to observe how our plants grow and we will be growing our own “cress heads” and sunflower seeds.

Summer 2

By the end of this half term, we will be able to answer our big question, “do living things change or stay the same?’.

We will use a variety of working scientifically skills to observe and gather data. We will be thinking about different habitats and what animals and plants live in specific environments.
