Our Learning Journey - SPRING 2 EXPLORERS

Hi AMAZING ACORNS

This half term we will be ‘Explorers’ and discover different lands and places through our three key texts: Non-fiction Dinosaurs, The Gruffalo and We’re going on a Bear Hunt. We will squelch in thick, oozy mud, wade through a deep, cold river and hope not to be gobbled up by a Gruffalo.

In Literacy we will be researching and writing lots of interesting facts about dinosaurs, singing about and describing the features of the Gruffalo, and sequencing and innovating the Bear Hunt story. In Phonics, we will continue to learn within Phase 3 and re-cap our previous learning, plus  lots of catch up in-between. In maths, we will explore numbers to 15 with a focus on halving, sharing, 3d shapes, more work on 10s frames and part/part/whole models.

In the other areas of our learning we will focus on how we learn in school and how we resolve conflict, and show our understanding through lots of discussions. We will be celebrating many different and varied events this term including WORLD BOOK DAY, Red Nose day, Mother’s Day, Vaisakhi, Passover and not forgetting Easter. We will continue to learn in our Outdoor classroom as well as exploring our fabulous forest area.
