Music at Glade Hill

At Glade Hill, our music curriculum aims to develop confident composers and performers and build a life-long love of music within our pupils.  Music knowledge acquisition and skill development is achieved by revisiting 5 musical strands each year: performing, listening, composing, the history of music and the inter-related dimensions of music.  Starting in EYFS, children are taught weekly music lessons which include a wide variety of musical genres, instruments and songs from around the world.  Our curriculum offers a broad range of different vocal and instrumental musical experiences and children are often visited by professional musicians. In Year 4, children are taught weekly whole-class trumpet lessons from visiting instrumental teachers.

The school has adopted the Kapow scheme of work for music.  We follow Kapow’s progression maps which are not published on our website due to copyright but are available to view on request.
