English Writing resources

This week in English we’re going to be developing the plot of our story by introducing our characters: the wolf and the human. This section will be about the wolf approaching the young human in the forest. We will think carefully about what these characters are like, and how we can use good vocabulary choices to really help the reader understand them.

Monday:

Today we will be retrieving information about the wolf in our story, to help us build a character profile of him. Begin by watching the video below which you can access on the video resource centre, as I model through how to find information about him. When you have watched the video, head over to Purple Mash to complete the task labelled – Monday 25^th English.

Tuesday:

Today you will be using adverbs and verbs to describe a character’s motive. We will be focusing on the wolf, thinking carefully about how he moves and interacts with other characters. Watch the video lesson provided to begin with. Follow the link to the video resource centre. When you have worked your way through, and watched the YouTube video as explained in the lesson, head over to Purple Mash and complete the task labelled- Tuesday 26^th English.

Wednesday

Today we will be using dialogue, description and action to think about the wolf’s interactions with the young human. A good story includes a balance of each. What does the wolf do when he sees the child? We’ll be using the work carried out from Monday and Tuesday to help with this. Watch the video below, which can be accessed via the video resource centre, and then head over to Purple Mash and complete the task labelled- Wednesday 27^th English.

Thursday:

Today we will be focusing on the character of the human. You will be learning to use a range of sentence openers to add detail about how our character, the child, interacts with the wolf, and how she swipes his claw. Follow along with the video first, which can be accessed video resource centre, and then head over to the Purple Mash and complete the task labelled- Thursday 28^th English. Friday:

Today you will be writing 2 paragraphs using all the skills that you have discovered this week to write about the wolf and human’s interaction. I would like to see a range of dialogue, action and description. Watch the video provided first, which can be accessed via the video resource centre, to help you know what to include and how to structure it, and then head over to Purple Mash and complete the task labelled- Friday 29^th English.
