We are Golden and we SPARKLE

Our brilliant week!

Week Beginning - 16th November

We started the week by using the geographical language of 'near' and 'far' to help rescue Rapunzel. We followed the clues and eventually found her inside Mrs Want's room! We all wore odd socks on Monday for Anti-Bullying week. We also painted Rangoli patterns and decorated Mendhi hands for the Hindu festival of Diwali. We have been practising our handwriting and comparing Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth the 2nd. In Maths, we have been learning how to subtract by counting back using a number line!

Week Beginning - 9th November

This week we have learning all about different Fairy tales trying to match who the items belong to. We have been learning how to subtract by crossing out, and we had a 2 minute silence for remembrance day on Wednesday. We all stood silent and were very respectful. Miss Newman is so proud of all of us! We raised money on Friday for children in need by wearing spots or yellow. We decorated biscuits and joined in with Joe Wicks!

Week Beginning - 2nd November 2020

This week we have started our new topic called 'Once Upon a Tower'. We were set a creative challenge over half term to make a tower and bring it back into school. Miss Newman is so impressed with what we have created! We have started learning all about famous Kings and Queens of the past and present, this week starting with Queen Elizabeth 2nd. We know that she was 27 years old when she became the monarch and she has a really large family! On Monday we created crowns and wands to introduce our new topic. We have been trying really hard with our addition up to ten this week, using a number line and a part-part-whole model.

Week Beginning - 12th October

On Monday morning we received a letter and special parcel from Mr Grinling! He had asked us to design him some delicious sandwiches whilst Mrs Grinling is away on holiday. In return, he sent us some bread, butter and jam to make our own sandwiches! We have had so much fun creating them and lots of children came back on Tuesday saying they had made their own sandwiches for lunch that day. We have began adding two one-digit numbers, using our baking trays and part-part whole models to work out the answers to tricky number sentences.

Week Beginning - 5th October

This week we had a beach day! We had our own sand to feel and imagine we had travelled to the seaside. We looked inside of Billy's Bucket and created sentences around what we had seen. Some of us even used adjectives to describe the things we saw! We re-imagined the history of Grace Darling by creating puppets with our partners and we began to compare the artists Bruegel and Lowry.

Week Beginning - 29th September

This week the Brilliant Bonsais have been creating dance movements all around the season of winter. We had to work with a partner to mirror their dance movements, just like a figure skater. We rediscovered our love for GoNoodle in Year One - especially do the yeti! We created seagulls for our Beside The Seaside display.
