This half term our topic is LAND AHOY! We will be writing to entertain by writing an adventure story based on our story 'The Pirate - Cruncher' by Jonny Duddle. Wisterias will have the opportunity to showcase their writing at the end of the topic and learn new grammar skills, such as expanded noun phrases.
This half term, some of our learning be surrounded around our theme "Frozen Kingdom". We will be writing to infrom by writing an a non-chronological report all about polar bears. Also, we will write to inform by writing a letter, inspired by the story "The Great Explorer" by Chris Judge.
I cannot wait to see what great work Wonderful Wisterias produce this half term and I look forward to talking to you about your child's progress during parents evening.
Spring 1
Superheroes
This half term, some of our learning be surrounded around our theme "superheroes". We will be writing to entertain by writing a fantasy story, inspired by Traction Man Is Here by Mini Grey. Also, we will write to inform by writing a set of instructions on how to make a superhero potion.
This term we will continue to progress with our learning related to multiplication and division. We will use a range of methods including equal groups, repeated addition and multiplication equations.
This half term our theme is SUPER SAFARI! We are learning to write to entertain by writing a setting description based in Kenya and writing to inform by writing a diary entry from another cultural's perspective.
These texts will include:
'Lilia and the Secret of Rain' by David Convey and Jude Daly
'Anna Hibiscus' by Atinuke, an African author.
"Night Vision"
Summer 1
This half term our learning, particularly in English, will follow a theme of Night Vision! We are learning to write to entertain by writing a Fantasy Story and writing to inform by writing a Non-Chronological Report all about owls.
The text we will use to help us will include:
'The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark' by Jill Tomlinson
Summer 2
'Nurturing Nurses'
In English, this half term, our learning will follow a theme of “Nurturing Nurses”. Our core text is ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine” by Roald Dahl.
We will be writing to inform by writing a set of instructions on ‘how to make a marvellous medicine’ and we will be writing to entertain by writing a story inspired by George’s Marvellous Medicine.
