Food, Glorious Food

Our new topic this term is Food, Glorious Food. We will be reading some fantastic stories such as Handa’s Surprise, The Enormous Turnip and The Tiger Who Came to Tea – and look forward to preparing and tasting lots of exciting fruits and vegetables, as well as baking cakes and preparing sandwiches for our ‘Tiger Who came to Tea’  party. We will be learning all about the traditions of Chinese New Year and will be turning our role-play area into a Fruit and Vegetable shop. In Literacy we will be role-playing, re- telling and innovating stories, and in maths, we will continue to use the Number Blocks to focus on our numbers to 10 as well as exploring shape and money. In our daily phonic sessions we will continue to develop our reading and writing skills by working with Phase 3 sounds such as th in path and oa in goat. We have been so impressed with the children’s enthusiasm for learning so far this year, and we cannot wait to get started on another new and exciting topic.

Thank you so much for your support at home. Please continue to read at least three times a week and to comment or sign in the reading diary. Keep an eye on the class page on the website, Purple Mash for ideas and, links to support learning at home – and please look in the PHOTO GALLERY for videos and pictures of us busy learning in Blue class.  Do not forget also, you can add pictures onto Tapestry for us to look at, as well as following your child’s progress in school.
