This term we will be singing and reading about some of our favourite traditional tales such as The Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs and Stickman. In our daily phonic sessions, we will continue learning Phase 2 sounds by adding new sounds and consolidating previously learned sounds through blending and segmenting. In Understanding the World we will be investigating waterproof materials and baking Gingerbread men, as well as celebrating Bonfire Night, Remembrance, Diwali and Christmas. In English we will be drawing and labelling story maps to re-tell some of our favourite tales plus lots of name writing practise. In math’s, we will begin to compare sets of objects and develop our vocabulary to describe amounts. Furthermore, we will explore the composition or ‘parts’ and ‘wholes’ of the numbers within 5, for example 4 is a whole number but 2 is a part and 2 is another part.
