Which staff have responsibility for working with children with additional needs?

School Staff

We believe that all staff have the responsibility of meeting the needs of each individual in their class to the best of their ability. All teachers are teachers of children with special educational needs’ (SEN Code of Practice p.44).

The following staff have additional responsibility and involvement in supporting children with additional needs:

Inclusion Leader and SENCO - Miss Sam Wardle

Emotional Literacy Support Assistant - Mrs Gadsby

Mental Health First Aider (MHFA) - Mr Strachan and Mrs Rowe

Bluebells Nurture group Leader - Mrs Staley

Bluebells Teaching Assistants - Ms Davis and Miss Robinson

Buttercups Teaching Assistants -  Mrs Fletcher

EYFS SEND support -   Mrs Easom

Outside Agencies

We work closely with the following outside agencies to ensure that the needs of all our children are met:

  • Local Children’s Centres
  • Nottingham City Inclusive Education Services (IES)
  • Educational Psychologist Service (EPS)
  • Behaviour Support Team (BST)
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)
  • Speech and Language Therapists (SALT)
  • Other Health Professionals including paediatricians, physiotherapists and occupational therapists

In the autumn term the Inclusion Leader liaises with all of the outside agencies regarding the provision and progress of children with SEND; support for the school and children will be planned for the year through this. These outside professionals are also available to support school staff in specific areas of Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) provision. Reports are provided on individual children that outline specific strategies for that individual. These are shared by the Inclusion Leader with appropriate staff and the Inclusion Leader and Senior Leadership Team monitor that the recommendations are being followed.
