Monster Madness

In Spring 1, we will be learning all about monsters and how to describe them! Our key text in English is "Morris the Mankiest Monster" by Giles Andreae and Sarah McIntyre.

We will be continuing to focus on supporting your child with forming their letters correctly, as we write simple sentences. We will be looking at sentence formation, including the importance of capital letters, finger spaces, full stops and exclamation marks. We will be learning all about adjectives and how to describe a creature so that our reader can picture them.

In maths we will be continuing to learn about addition and subtraction, before exploring numbers up to 50.

In geography we will be learning about the United Kingdom and its countries and capital cities.

In science we will be learning all about animals and how to label them scientifically.

In DT we will be making our own moving storybook, and in art we will be learning about painting and the artist L. S. Lowry.

In PE we will practise balances, jumps and landings in gymnastics, both on the mats and on the apparatus.
