In our writing lessons, we will be applying all of the skills we have learned this year to a range of different genres including a biography, narratives and a campaign.
Reading
We will continue to consolidate the reading keys and prepare the children for Reading at secondary school. We will based this on our class novel - The Final Year
Maths
We will continue to consolidate the key areas to prepare the children for Maths at secondary school.

Summer 1
English
In our shared reading lessons, we will be reading a range of different genres, including fiction, non-fiction and poetry. We will be focussing on question stems which will prepare the children for the SATs reading test.
Through our wider curriculum lessons we will be writing for lots of different purposes.
Maths
In our Maths lessons we will be learning about statistics, geometry and measures.
We will also be revising everything we have already learnt this year and ensuring we are able to answer reasoning questions about them.
SATs booster groups
Four days a week, all children will have additional SATs booster groups for reading and maths. These will be in small groups and based on ability. These will ensure your child receives targeted support to prepare them for their SATs assessments.

Writing
In our writing lessons, we will be using the text The Island by Armin Greder as a stimulus. We will be writing diary entries, stories with alternative endings and persuasive letters.
Reading
In our shared reading lessons, we will be developing our skills by reading and understanding texts across a range of genres – including fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Many of these will be linked to our half-term book- The Island. Alongside this, we will be doing extra reading work during SATs groups.
Maths
In our maths lessons this half-term, we will be learning about: converting measurements; position and direction; and area, perimeter and volume. Alongside this, we will be doing extra arithmetic learning during SATs groups.
