English Writing resources

This week in English we’re going to spend Monday- Wednesday planning and writing our own version of The Wolf’s Claw. On Thursday we will be beginning our new unit of writing, ‘writing to persuade,’ by taking on the role of Yanka from our class story. Remember to watch the videos provided first to help you with each task.

Monday:

 

Today we will be planning our story, ‘The wolf’s Claw.’ Think about all of the elements that we have completed over the past few weeks. Watch my video carefully first, by clicking on the link below and heading to the video resource centre, to help you complete each section of the plan accurately. I’d encourage you to get a pen and paper to make notes as you go along. When you have watched the video, head over to Purple Mash and complete the task- Monday 1st English.

Tuesday:

 

Today you are going to begin writing the first 2 paragraphs of your story. This will be a chance to include all of the key elements that we have looked at over the past few weeks. Watch my video first, by following the link and heading over to the video resource centre. As you watch, use your pen and paper to make notes and magpie any words or openers that you would like. I would then like you to head over to Purple Mash and open the task- Tuesday 2nd English. It might be a good idea to hand write your story first and then type it on.

Wednesday: 

 

Today you are going to begin writing the next 3 paragraphs of your story. This will be a chance to include all of the key elements that we have looked at over the past few weeks. Watch my video first, by following the link and heading over to the video resource centre. As you watch, use your pen and paper to make notes and magpie any words or openers that you would like. I would then like you to head over to Purple Mash and open the task- Wednesday 3rd English. It might be a good idea to hand write your story first and then type it on.

Thursday:

 

Today we are going to be starting our next piece of writing – writing to persuade. We are going to be writing a persuasive letter to village council as Yanka! The villages are starting to worry about the animals in the forest. They demand that immediate action is takne! Click the link to the video resource centre below and watch ‘Thursday 4th English’. Once you have done this, head over to Purple Mash and complete the task set (Thursday 4th English).

Friday:

 

Today we are going to be thinking about the impact on the audience. How is a reader supposed to feel when they read a persuasive text? If we are writing a persusive letter to the village council, we are going to want to make an impact on them. Please click the link to the video resource centre below and watch ‘Friday 5th English’. Once you have done this, head over to Purple Mash and complete the task set (Friday 5th English).
