Please click on the link above if you would like to practise 'Key words' with your child at home. We call these words our 'tree words' at school and children get them alongside their reading book, when they are ready. Children start with Tree 1 and practice reading these words until they can read them instantly, on sight. When children are very secure and confident with one set of words they are given the next. Children will work their way through Tree 1-8 throughout their whole time in EYFS (F1 and F2), but mainly when they are in F2, so please do not worry if your child finds them tricky. Maybe just pick one or two words from Tree 1 to start with. If you do choose to give your child a whole set at a time, please jumble the words up as they learn them. Children are very good at remembering the order of words if they read down a list and may not always be as secure if they read them in a different order.
When we teach handwriting at school we teach the letter formation alongside a little 'story' that acts as a hook for the children and helps them remember how to form the letter. Above is a copy of these 'stories'.

There are many great online resources available to further support learning at home. Eg Purple Mash, Oxford Owl, Twinkl and the new Oak Academy video lessons. All links can be found on the previous page. Please mail us at acorns@gladehill.nottingham.sch.uk if you have any questions or would like any extra support.
If you would like some support with keeping children safe online please look at our 'esafety' page on the website.
We think it's important that you have some time to rest and relax at home, just as you would have if recent events weren't happening. So, we've decided not to set you 'Learning Tasks' for the next couple of weeks and are focusing on you having lots of fun with your families! However, we know you might still be looking for things to do and to stay busy, so thought we would challenge you to see how many of the '100 things to do indoors' you can tick off! It would be FANTASTIC to see photographs of these too if you can email them.
This page will be updated with more learning tasks on Friday 17th April.
Remember you can still use Purple Mash games and activities if you want to. 'Mini Mash' is particularly great!
Here are some suggested learning activities for this week. Just click on the document below to see the list. It would be great to see some photos of your child's learning. Please email us a photo and we can add it to our Learning Gallery!
