    Welcome to the Spectacular Sycamores' class page. We look forward to sharing all of our wonderful learning experiences with you. On this page, you will find information about the learning that is taking place each term, information about homework, letters and other important updates!

    Year 6 Curriculum

    We are writers...

    In our writing lessons, we will be using Harry Potter as a stimulus to write fantasy stories, non-chronological reports and persuasive adverts. We will be focussing on the audience and purpose for our writing, the impact it has on the reader and how we are going to achieve this. 

    We are readers...

    In our shared reading lessons, we will be developing our skills by reading and understanding texts across a range of genres - both fiction and non-fiction. Our main focus will be on understanding vocabulary and improving our inference skills. 

    We are mathematicians...

    In our maths lessons this half-term, we will be learning about place value and the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). We will also have a daily maths blast session where we will be practising the skills we have already learnt.

    We are historians, artists, scientists, musicians and athletes...

    • History- Ancient Islamic Civilisations
    • Art- Sketching
    • Science- Animals including humans
    • PE- Invasion games

    Key Reminders:

    • PE on Mondays and Thursdays
    • Diaries will be checked every Friday for 3 or more reads. Please ensure you child brings their diary in so they can have stamps on their chart.
    • Practise spellings on your colour spelling band each week - the words are in your diary.
    • Complete MyMaths homework online, which will be set on a Friday and needs to be handed in by the following Thursday.
    • Mrs BT is our PPA cover teacher on Wednesdays
