We are Golden and we SPARKLE
Welcome to
Blossoming Bluebells
We are GOLDEN and we SPARKLE!!
What are learning in
English
In English we are learning about transport.
We are looking at different modes of traveling around and how different transport is used in everyday life.
The children will be using clicker and colourful semantics to read and write different text.
Our older children in year 5 and 6 will be writing a social story to support them crossing the road.
What we are learning in
Maths
In maths we are learning about number,
The children will learn about place value ordering, counting and more and less.
What we are leaning in
Science
In Science we will be learning about the weather.
The children will have a sensory session with music, different objects to touch and symbols.
This will then be followed by a art activity to create something links to the sensory lesson using the new language learnt.
Phonics in Bluebells
At Glade Hill we teach phonics using the ‘Little Wandle Letters and Sounds systematic synthetic phonics scheme. This systematic approach teaches our children to use synthetic phonics as a strategy to support them in becoming fluent readers and confident writers. This rigorous approach is adopted throughout school to ensure consistency and progression, including in our Nurture groups.
Children in Bluebells are taught daily discrete phonics lessons and are encouraged to apply their knowledge. For some children this is part of a small group and for others is 1:1. The children also receive precision teaching of tricky words. For some children, their reading books are supplemented with the use of Makaton signs and symbols. This is a specialist approach advised by outside agencies including Speech and Language Therapists and the Nottingham City Learning Support Team.
