Last year's French learning

Click on the link to the video resource centre to see some of our children learning their French numbers through dance and music.

Year 3

During Year 3, the children have enjoyed their very first French lessons, learning greetings, numbers, days of the week, months and colours. They have also just completed a unit on food and used their knowledge of days of the week to read the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar in French and have written their own stories.

Year 4

During year 4, the children have learnt a wide variety of topics including  parts of the body where they used that language to create their own monsters. They have also studied a map of France and learnt about the location of key towns and compass points. Recently they have been learning about animals and reading a story about going to the zoo  and then learning to talk about their hobbies.

Year 5

This year, Year 5 have learnt a variety of topics including birthdays, describing members of their family, shops, French towns and the difference between towns in France and England. They have also learnt about food and being able to give opinions about food as well as sports.

They have had fun designing their own towns and writing about them and have also designed Olympic outfits and described them.
