Summer 1

Welcome to Summer 1!

We have been up to lots of exciting things this half term. We continue to develop our literacy and numeracy skills as well as explore our wider curriculum areas.

WE ARE WRITERS!

This term we have been adapting the story 'Wild' by Emily Hughes and rewritten as our own as well as using our knowledge of adjectives to create a setting description. We have been using our 5 senses to help us imagine being in a setting and we took a trip to our woods to immerse ourselves in that setting.

Both our stories and our setting descriptions were AMAZING!

WE ARE MATHEMATICIANS!

This term we have continued with numbers up to 20. The children have been working hard in answering speedy arithmetic questions in addition and subtraction. We have also been exploring new concepts of grouping and sharing using practical resources to help us.

WE LIKE TO DESIGN AND MAKE!

This term we have been learning about different fruit and vegetable and how to be healthy. We have also learned the difference between fruit and vegetables and even explored where different fruit and vegetables grow. We then designed and hand picked fruit to create our own fruit smoothies. The children were so safe and sensible when chopping the fruit and they really enjoyed using the blender to create their smoothies!
