Spring 1: When you go down the woods

When you Go down to the woods

We will start the theme by reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will use our cutting skills to make ourselves some bear ears, cook some porridge and go for a walk in the woods so we can observe the natural environment and look for the three bears.  I wonder what will happen to the porridge when we are gone? In PSHE, the children will be learning how to manage their feelings during circle time activities. In maths, we will be concentrating on measure, subitising to 3 and positional language.  Our science sessions will consist of looking at our natural environment, noticing changes to materials when we apply heat and cooling, exploring shapes and joining different materials.  In literacy, we will be focusing on three books where the scene is set around woods, the books we will be reading are, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and the Gruffalo.  We will be doing lots of activities around the stories in order to excite and engage the children and encourage them to learn lots of new vocabulary and rhymes.  

We will be having lots of fun towards the half-term break when we will showcase all of our learning.  Watch this space!
