Emily’s Inspirational Charity
Emily (Clayton) was a primary teacher in Nottingham for 11 years and taught at Glade Hill Primary School from September 2008 to November 2012.
In September 2012 she was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) and died on 27th November 2012 aged 33 years.
Every teacher hopes that they will make a difference to the young people they are responsible for by their influence, teaching and the opportunities that they are able to provide – by their inspiration. Emily was inspirational and passionate about ensuring every child she taught had all the opportunities they needed and were not disadvantaged (especially financially) in any way.
The charity has been set up by her family, friends and colleagues in order to fund opportunities for children to take part in events and activities that will make a difference to their future lives and inspire them to success, fulfilment, achievement and happiness. The aim of the charity is to raise money which will allow children to participate in residential or extra-curricular activities which without this financial support they would not be able to do.
Activities which will be supported include: Residential experiences - Creative Activities (opportunities for all to experience all aspects of the Arts) - Educational visits -- Esteem building opportunities.
The charity will work with the school to decide how best to use the money raised and who should benefit from it.
Trustees of the charity: Teri O’Kelly, Kate Clayton, Tricia Clayton & one member of the Glade Hill Teaching Staff.
In order to carry out the charitable purposes the trustees have the power to raise funds and receive grants and donations. They can also apply for funds to carry out the work of the charity, co-operate with and support other charities with similar purposes and do anything lawful and necessary to achieve the purposes.
Funds: All monies donated or raised will be used for the purposes of the charity. The trustees will keep the accounts of the charity and they are available for scrutiny by anyone on request. The trustees do not receive any money from the charity. All funds will be kept in the charity’s bank account which is held at Barclays Bank.
