Settling into Year 1

The children have loved exploring the learning activities within the classroom. They have been doing lots of fine motor activities, phonics games and have been creative with junk modelling. They have loved smelling flowers and exploring their different parts.

We are Scientists!

We have explored plants and trees this half term. The children carried lots of investigating, observing and reporting in our woodland area. We had so much inviting families in to share our great science learning too. 

We are Writers!

The children have loved our ‘Under the Sea’ theme this half term. We have explored different sea creatures, and using our phonics knowledge, we have made a class book. We also had a great time making our own buckets linked to our book ‘Billy’s Bucket’ where we put all of our sea creatures inside.  

We are Mathematicians!

The children have done brilliantly at understanding numbers up to 10. They have mastered the concept of greater than and less than with a sweet treat to keep them motivated!

We are Geographers! 

We have been looking at our local environment - thinking about the physical and human features all around us. We finished the unit with a trip to our local park to see what we could spot along the way. The children had so much fun and ensured they knew how to be safe in a public place.
