Celebrating History at Glade Hill!
Black History Month 2025- Standing firm in power and pride!
This year, our Black History Month celebrations embraced the powerful theme of “Standing Firm in Power and Pride.” Pupils explored the richness of Black heritage through engaging activities both at home and in school. Families took part in Black History Bingo, sparking conversations about influential figures and cultural contributions. In school, themed learning weeks highlighted History & Heritage, Arts & Culture, STEM & Innovation, and Community & Empowerment, with a special focus on inspiring local figures such as Eric Irons, Nottingham’s first Black magistrate, and Louise Harvey, a pioneering advocate for equality. These experiences encouraged our children to celebrate diversity, understand resilience, and take pride in the contributions that shape our society.

At Glade Hill, we use an incredible resource to help children's understanding of topics. Each term a year group has an exciting opportunity to use a variety of artefacts ranging from the Egyptians in Year 4 to the Second World War in Year 6. To help with their learning, incredible and authentic artefacts are used to facilitate enhance their solidify their understanding.
