Welcome to the Marvellous Magnolias' class page. We are so excited to continue this Marvellous learning journey and look forward to sharing all of our wondering learning experiences with you. On this page, you will find information about the learning that is taking place each term, information about homework, letters and other exciting updates.

Key information

• Read 3 times per week or more!

• Remember PE kits for each lesson.

Spring 2

Maths

In our maths lessons this half-term, we will be learning all about converting between decimals, fractions and percentages! This includes an understanding of percentages and fractions/decimals up to thousandths.

After this, we begin to look at perimeter and area. Including finding the perimeter of rectilinear and compound shapes.

Reading

In our shared reading lessons, we will be developing our skills by reading and understanding texts across a range of genres - both fiction and non-fiction. Our main focus will be on understanding vocabulary and improving our inference and retrieval skills.

Writing

In our writing lessons, we have a ‘Whoddunnit?’ theme – trying to solve the mystery of where Salim disappeared to! We will be using The London Eye Mystery to write newspaper reports about his disappearance and then writing our own mystery stories! We will practice using relative clauses, changing sentence structure, using appropriate vocabulary and parentheses.

Wider Curriculum

• Geography – natural resources and their uses.

  D&T – Textiles: making a stuffed toy.

  Science- Materials!

  PE- Target games, including foot golf, Finnish skittles and bowls!
