  • Black History Month 2025

Tue 30 Sep 2025 Mrs Stapleton

This week we will be starting our school celebration of Black History Month and the theme this year is ‘Standing firm in power and pride”.

As a part of our Black History month celebrations, we will -

    • Have Local black British Historian Norma Gregory host an assembly for all key stages
    • Have a Black History suggested timetable with different foci each week that highlights the profound contributions made by Black people be they leaders, activists, or pioneers who have shaped local and national history.
    • Send out a Black history bingo sheet for families to complete at home- prizes provided by our Diversity Lead Miss Ross!
    • Have Diversify visit Nursery to teach them about Mary Seacole.
    • Have a SEND/Neurodiverse 3 week plan which has a sensory, music & movement focus.
    • Have enjoyed the talents of our fantastic Mrs Speed sharing some oral storytelling with our children.

We hope you and your children enjoy engaging with the above activities. We hope they make a difference to our children to see themselves represented in their learning during the special time as well as through our usual curriculum, resources and environment.

  • Harvest and Wear it Gold Day

Fri 26 Sep 2025 Mrs Stapleton

    It's our Harvest Day!

Look how generous all our community has been, collecting so much food for the Bulwell and Bestwood Food Bank! You are all amazing! Thank you so much!

It is also 'Wear it Gold' day at Glade Hill to raise awareness of the Children's Cancer and Leukemia group charity, a cause close to all our hearts as a former pupil of ours was treated for a brain tumour as a baby, and received support from this charity.

Thank you everyone for participating. You looked amazing! Thank you for all the donations too!

This week were were very lucky to have a visit from Councillor Barnard as part of the Nottingham City Big Reading Challenge 2025. We were absolutely delighted to be able to take part in this fantastic initiative to support the Nottingham Imagination Library.

Councillor Barnard read a super story to our fabulous F2s, Year 1s and Year 2s and a great time was had by all.

  • Start of Au 1 - Headteacher Letter - 25.26

Mon 08 Sep 2025 Mrs Stapleton

    8 September 2025

Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,

Welcome everyone to the 2025.26 academic year at Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School.

I know this is going to be another amazing year at Glade Hill, and I look forward to seeing all our children show their GOLDEN behaviour and SPARKLY learning. I know that all our staff will be striving to ensure that all children become the best learners that they can be.

Our three Priority Areas for School Improvement this year are:

    • Improving the teaching of Writing to improve outcomes across the school.
    • Improve teaching, provision, experiences and support for children facing barriers to their success such as those who may have “unfair starting lines" in life, for example access to books, healthy food, or a safe place to play. Some children need extra help to have the same chances as others.
    • Support teachers to develop as leaders through training and support. For example, support teachers to develop and improve leadership of different subjects and parts of the school e.g. EY/ KS1/ LKS2/ UKS2 to help all children achieve the best they can in all subjects and at all ages.

One important way that you can support us with these goals, is making sure that your children are in school as much as possible. Research shows that children with over 95% attendance achieve better grades, achieve their best and are happier and more settled in school. We have lots of incentives to celebrate excellent attendance that will continue this year, including class trophies and attendance badges/ medals.

Another way that you can support us with these goals, is by making sure that you read with your child three times a week. Regular practice is essential for progress in reading, and reading is essential for improving achievement in writing and other subjects. We have a fantastic reading reward scheme for all children whereby reading three times a week they can earn prizes such as teddies, notebooks, pencils and books.

I am also very excited to say hello to our new F2 children (Reception) in Amazing Acorns. We hope you are enjoying your learning, and I know that you will quickly settle in and thrive at Glade Hill.

To our Year 6 children, we look forward to you being fantastic role models for our school community, showing us all how to be GOLDEN and to SPARKLE in our learning every day. You have already really impressed me with your mature attitudes and behaviour. Keep up the good work!

Thank you in advance for your support this year, and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

    Kindest regards,

    Mrs Anna Stapleton - Headteacher
