Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,
I hope you all had a nice half-term break. It has been so lovely to see all of the children back in school and ready to continue their learning.
As I shared in my last letter, we have lots of exciting curriculum activities planned this half-term, so just a reminder to check the Arbor app and your emails for updates, reminders and messages. Several year groups have trips and visits coming up, such as our Year 2s visiting Twycross Zoo, and we also have a number of sports events in which children may be selected to represent Glade Hill. Our App is our main communication tool so if you do not yet have it, or you are experiencing problems, please speak to a member of our Office team who will be happy to help you. The Arbor app is also how you book your children onto Breakfast Club and After-school clubs, so please ensure you are able to do this.
Our clubs for this half term have already started and the new clubs for the Summer term will be available to book near to the end of this term. We also start the new term off with Parents Evenings next week so please ensure you are booked onto these and speak to the office if you need any help. We also continue to have Notts County Sports Coaches in school supporting groups, classes and also running an after-school club.
Last half-term our Year 3s were our first KS2 year group to experience swimming lessons and impressed everyone with their resilience and enthusiasm! Well done Year 3! Good luck to Bluebells and who start their lessons this half-term. We know you will be super golden and SPARKLY as well.
Finally, our focus for this Half-Term is ‘The Love of Books’ and we have lots of exciting events planned. This includes World Book Day, next Thursday 5th March, where children are welcome to come dressed as a book character. We can’t wait to see how fantastic they all look! Remember reading with your child is an important part of supporting their academic achievement and at Glade Hill ‘Every Read Counts’. Make sure you are recording all reads in your child’s home school diary to help them achieve their reading awards.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Kind regards,
Mrs Stapleton
Headteacher
Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,
We have had yet another fantastic half-term at Glade Hill and it was so lovely to celebrate this at our Special Awards assemblies during the final week of term and also our ‘Dream Big’ day. The children have blown us all away with their commitment to learning, and how golden and SPARKLY they are. Well done to all the children chosen for awards, I hope your grown-ups enjoyed the presentation. There are awards for children showing consistent ‘Golden’ behaviour, ‘SPARKLY’ learning and ‘Always’ for children who are Golden and SPARKLY. Take a look at some of the award winners below and also photos from our Dream Big day. There are lots more on our website ‘News’ page Latest News | Glade Hill Primary School
All classes have done lots of fantastic learning this half-term and the children are making some fantastic progress. Take a look at some examples of their learning and work below. I know you will be as impressed as I am! There are lots more examples on your child’s class page:

Staff training and development for the Spring and Summer terms will continue to focus on improving the teaching of Writing and support for children with unfair starting points across the school and further developing teacher’s leadership skills so our children get the best start possible with their education. Our INSET day today has been well spent on CPD for all staff around these areas. Leaders will be continuing to monitor the impact of this training and working with partners from Nottingham Schools Trust (NST), the Local Authority and others such as the local English Hub.
As you know improving attendance continues to be very important. Your child having the best possible attendance is an important way that you can support their learning and achievement. Research shows that children with over 95% attendance achieve better grades, achieve their best and are happier and more settled in school. The Government are really focusing on this area and are launching a campaign ‘Every moment matters’ to raise awareness of the importance of good attendance for all children. I would also like to share again the videos from our local PEIA Attendance Hub which highlight the importance of attendance for all children. To support this area in school, we will be continuing to present children with 100% attendance each term with star badges to mark this achievement. The next set of badges will be given out near the Easter holidays. We will also be continuing to announce which classes have the best attendance each week in assemblies, which the children love. The winning classes earn extra reward time and the phase attendance trophy for the week! Thank you in advance for making sure your child comes to school as much as possible, and please let us know via the office if you require any additional support from our Attendance Officer Mrs Raynor.
With so much going on in school, and lots of trips and enrichment activities coming up, make sure you check the Arbor app for updates, reminders and messages regarding all the fun things we are going to be learning and doing. This is now our main communication tool so if you do not yet have the app, or you are experiencing problems, please speak to a member of our Office team who will be able to help you.
Thank you in advance for all your support for our amazing school and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Anna Stapleton – Headteacher
Take a look at our fantastic outfits from our Dream Big day! Doesn't everyone look amazing. The aim for today was to dress as your future self or what you would like to be when you grow up. The children have also completed other aspirational learning activities including writing letters to their future selves.
There was even a new Headteacher for the day who looked very familiar.
Look how golden and SPARKLY we all are!
