Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School would like to say a huge 'Thank you' to the local company 'Visav' Home - VISAV for their generous £200 donation toward diverse books for our school. Their support empowers our students at Glade Hill Primary and Nursery School and, strengthens our school community, by providing us with stories that reflect our children's identities and that inspire them to dream big. Thank you to the Visav team for their generous donation.

The books we have chosen and received are written by diverse authors, contain a diverse range of characters, and, include books in the prominent languages used in school such as Farsi, Kurdish, Romanian, Hungarian and Arabic amongst others.

  • GB Handball Match v Latvia - Glade Hill Spectate!

Fri 09 Jan 2026 Mrs Stapleton

This week some of our KS2 children were able to attend the GB Handball match v Latvia at the David Ross Sports Village.

The children and staff had an amazing time, made even more special by them being able to watch the son of Miss Jardine, EYFS coLead, play and once again represent his country. The feedback we have had is that our children were amazing and their behaviour impeccable, as we would expect.

Thank you to the staff and children involved for representing our children so well. Our half-term focus is 'Ambition' and I am sure attending this event will help our fantastic children 'Dream Big'. There will be further details sent out soon regarding our half-term focus, school events and the home challenges so keep a look out!

  • Start of half-term Headteacher Letter - Spring 1

Fri 09 Jan 2026 Mrs Stapleton

Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,

I hope you all had a nice festive break. It has been so lovely to see all of the children back in school and ready to learn.

We have lots of great learning planned across all classes this half term, so make sure you check out our website for useful information regarding what your children are learning in their classes. Our teachers have been continuing to develop their ‘Class Pages’ and they will be updating them throughout the year with photographs, examples of work and useful links to support your child’s learning. If you require any further information about your child’s learning, or have questions on how to support them at home, please speak to your child’s class teacher and also take a look at the ‘Parent Zone’ part of our website Parents' Zone | Glade Hill Primary School

As part of our efforts at Glade Hill to continually improve, you will be aware that we have three School Development priorities for this academic year.

    These are as follows:

    • Improving the teaching of Writing to improve outcomes across the school.
    • Improve teaching, provision, experiences and support for children facing barriers to their success such as those who may have “unfair starting lines" in life. Some children need extra help to have the same chances as others.
    • Support teachers to develop as leaders through training and support.

These are areas of particular focus for us, but we also continue to work on and teach the rest of the curriculum. As part of this, staff training and development for the Spring and Summer terms will focus on continuing to improve the teaching of writing across the school including a focus on handwriting and spelling (including phonics for our youngest children). Senior Leaders will also be continuing to monitor the impact of this on children’s learning and progress.

As you will be aware improving attendance continues to be very important to our school. Helping your child to have the best possible attendance is an important way that you can support their learning and achievement. Research shows that children with over 95% attendance achieve better grades, achieve their best and are happier and more settled in school. The Government and Local Authority are continuing to focus on this area. Previously the Nottingham Priority Education Investment Area (PEIA) team produced some useful videos in a range of languages that you may find useful to watch. Here are the links to these:

To promote good attendance in school, we will be continuing to present children with 100% attendance each term with star badges to mark this achievement. The bronze badges were given out before the holiday, and we will also be giving out certificates for children who nearly got 100% or who have shown big improvements in their attendance during this term. We will be continuing to announce which classes have the best attendance each week in assemblies, which the children still love. The winning classes earn extra outside time and the phase attendance trophy for the week! Thank you in advance for making sure your child comes to school as much as possible, and please let Mrs Raynor know, via the office, if you require any additional support.

With so much going on in school, and lots of trips and enrichment activities coming up, make sure you check the Arbor and Juniper app for updates, reminders and messages regarding all the fun things we are going to be learning and doing. These are our main communication tools so if you do not yet have the apps, or you are experiencing problems, please speak to a member of our Office team who will be able to help you.

Thank you in advance for all your support for our amazing school and I look forward to seeing you all very soon.

    Kindest regards,

    Mrs Anna Stapleton

    Headteacher
