Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,
I hope you all had a nice half-term break. It has been so lovely to see your children back in school this week and ready to learn. Across the school, the children have been working hard across all subjects and making some brilliant progress. A big well done to them all!
This next half-term is always a busy one, so make sure you check your Arbor app, the MarvellousMe app and your emails for updates, reminders and messages regarding all the fun things we are going to be doing in school. If you do not yet have the app, please speak to a member of our Office team who will be able to help you get set up.
There are lots of opportunities coming up as well, for you to get involved in school, including a reading information event for KS2 parents and carers (21.11.24) and of course our Christmas performances, parties and a range of charity and awareness days. We will also be having our first parents’ evenings of this year next week, so make sure you return a slip for each of your children with your preferred time slots as soon as possible.
Promoting school attendance is a main focus at the moment, not just for our School, but also for the Local Authority and the Department for Education. Part of the policies around this involve us needing to inform parents regularly of any concerns around a child’s attendance and offering support to improve it. We are required to do this even when you may have told us valid reasons for a child’s attendance being below a good level of attendance such as medical appointments, more serious illness or authorised holidays. So, if you receive any communications around your child’s attendance, please remember that this is part of our duties and policies and we would fully inform you if we were progressing to any fines or sanctions. If you require any further information around this, please visit our website https://www.gladehill.nottingham.sch.uk/attendance/ or speak to our Attendance Improvement Officer and Office Manager Mrs Raynor.
Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Shaw (Year 3/4 Lead), Mrs Beet (EYFS Lead Practitioner) and all of our FrOGS parent and carer group for all their hard work organising events for the rest of this year including our clothing swap and Christmas Hamper Raffles. If any parents or carers would like to get involved with FrOGs and support fundraising for our school, please email the office.
Thank you for all your support for our fabulous school. I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
Kindest regards, Mrs Anna Stapleton - Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers of Glade Hill,
This half-term we have been focusing on getting all the children quickly settled into their new classes and taking part in the great learning that has been taking place. I hope the parents and carers who were able to join us for the ‘excite and engage’ sessions enjoyed seeing the learning in action. I know I have been so impressed with all the children’s GOLDEN behaviour and their SPARKLY learning so far! A big thank you as well to the grown-ups who joined us for our FrOGs (Friends of Glade Hill) Parent and Carer group meeting. They have some exciting events planned for this school year, further details to follow after half-term.
We have also celebrated Harvest this half-term, again collecting an ENORMOUS amount of food for the Bulwell and Bestwood Food Bank. Thank you so much for your generosity and for supplying the requested items.
We also dressed to impress on our ‘Wear it Gold’ day to show our support for the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG), raising awareness of this charity for a cause that is very close to our hearts.
As part of our Collective Worship sessions in Assemblies and through in-class work, we have celebrated Black History Month. This year the focus was on Reclaiming Narratives and we had some visitors from Diversify to discuss this important area. Celebrating our diversity is a very important part of our values and ethos at Glade Hill and we are proud of our work in this area.
Just a reminder that our three Priority Areas for School Improvement this year are:
And finally, a huge well done to our 4 talented Year 5s who participating in the local schools’ ASPIRE Mastermind Challenge at Robin Hood School. We are so incredibly proud of you all and we came second! We got full marks in the maths round and we had an expert in Harry Potter in our team which was handy. But more importantly we are proud of our children representing our school and being so ambitious and confident. Well done!
Thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to seeing you after the half-term break.
Kindest regards,
Mrs Anna Stapleton - Headteacher
As lots of you may know we have had 2 new ActivAlls installed at the start of the Autumn term and they have been amazing!
Children across the school are able to use them at break and lunchtime and they are a great way to increase physical activity during these times alongside developing their coordination skills.
ActivAlls are an innovative and sustainable improvement to PE and school sports, which encourages active play during break times and increases physical activity within the school as a whole.
ActivAll is recognised as an AfPE Business associate. Covering the 5 key indicators for Schools Sports Premium:
Increase physical activity
Raise profile of PE
Training for staff & pupils
Broader range of activities
Competitive sport
More information can be found at: https://activall.co.uk
Take a look at the photos below of our children using them!
